Some random stuff.

I’ve been unable to write lately, for a number of reasons, most of them logistical. Early spring is an extremely busy time in our household; my husband travels a lot more for work, my daughter’s birthday is this month, and our second term ends at school which means report card writing and student conference prep galore. Throw in an ongoing art project commission and a puppy who is stealing shoes and doesn’t ever eat her breakfast on time, and, well, my brain is pretty fried these days. Even so, I don’t want to be neglectful, as I am so grateful that somehow people seem to be interested in reading what I write here. It means a lot to me. You, readers, mean a lot to me. While I can’t say this is a post of great substance, not compared to most others, I do have a few random things to jot down tonight.

1) Some people on the internet are so quick to find fault in another person, that a simple mistake is apparently grounds for making gross assumptions about their life and character. It’s despicable. I can only speak for myself, but I’ve always preferred to at least try to be kind. Costs me nothing, and feels better inside.

2) Having an art project come out exactly as you’d had it pictured inside your head is such a glorious feeling.

3) Sometimes it isn’t that you’re dwelling on something; sometimes you’re just processing it, and you have to do that in whatever way works best for you. (My almost-five-year-old reminded me of this one this week.)

4) Teaching is an exceptionally stressful job. But there are moments — oh, there are moments — when your life comes full circle because an experience you had as a student returns to you as a teacher in the most validating way possible. I’m going to make note to write a fuller post about this particular tidbit later on, because it’s really worth sharing.

5) Such as with number 4 — if it’s a moment that makes you smile, it’s a moment worth sharing with others.

Thank you all for your continued support and patience; I look forward to getting back into the swing of writing more regularly soon. Bear with me!
