I did it! School is out for summer! Students were done on Wednesday, I had a day of professional development on Thursday and spent today clearing up my classrooms so that the summer camp program can use the rooms over the next couple months. I’m free!
…now what?
It sounds like I’m joking, but honestly, I’m not sure what I should do this summer. Yes, it would be fun to say, “nothing,” but, that’s not me. Outside of a couple of art commissions, I don’t particularly have assigned work to do, and I don’t know how to be idle.
I’m absolutely open to suggestions (please share some in the comments!), but I also find that writing possibilities down helps cement them, and may even help me remember to try to make them happen. So, here’s an attempt at a shortlist of ideas/goals/hopes for this summer, unrelated to school stuff:
1) Rest when my body tells me to.
2) Read books.
3) Write more often.
4) Deep clean the house and get rid of things we don’t need.
5) Consider applying for a literary agent.
6) See a rheumatologist (there’s a referral in, I’m waiting for a call).
7) Paint, just for me.
This all seems like a pretty good start, I think. Happy summer everybody!
(Posts with more substantial content will be forthcoming now that I’ve got more time and mental space to spare for it! Cheers!)
